I saw Run Fatboy Run today with some high school friends. Even though I read some bad reviews, I really enjoyed it! Yes, it’s predictable, and yes, it’s fairly unrealistic. However, if you don’t overanalyze it (critics and movie snobs seem to do that all the time), then it’s really cute and funny (while also being pretty crude sometimes; it is British after all).
It helps that I really like Simon Pegg. He’s cute in a weird way. I haven’t seen Shaun of the Dead, but Hot Fuzz was really funny. I didn’t know anything about Hot Fuzz when I saw it, so I was shocked (in a good way) by how incredibly random and off the wall it got.
I’m actually a pretty big fan of Britsh humor (humour) in general, but it can be hit or miss sometimes. Coupling and My Family are two of my favorite TV shows, but I never got into Absolutely Fabulous. I think Ab Fab is supposed to be a very big hit with the gay community, but I just don’t get it. I did enjoy the Monty Python movies, though.
One last note: I absolutely love British accents. They’re so hot!
