My brother flew home last night for spring break. Because my family only has two cars (my brother took the third one with him to medical school), I’m going to have to rely on my brother for a ride to work all week.
Ever since we were kids, my brother and I have shared everything. We never fought over whose toy was whose. When we got older and started living in different cities, we decided who would get which video game console until we had time to come home so we would swap. For example, my brother brought home our Wii this time and will probably be taking our Playstation 2.
We also have a shared DVD collection. Part of having a shared collection is to discuss what DVDs to buy and when (we’re always watching out for sales). Now that we have a Playstation 3 (hooray for the Target team member discount), we have to decide which movies are “worth” buying on Blu-ray instead of just buying them on DVD.
I’m still really new to the whole “high definition experience,” but today I became convinced that HD really is better (at least for some movies). Neither my brother nor I had seen Ratatouille, so we decided to buy it on Blu-ray. We both agreed that Pixar movies are definitely worth the jump up to 1080p.
I can’t believe how good Ratatouille is. Everything about the movie was amazing, and the clarity of the picture (on a 52-inch screen) made it stand out even more. Ratatouille definitely makes it onto my (imaginary) list of all time favorite movies. I just finished watching it and I want to see it again. We picked a very good movie to initiate me into the world of high definition.
